i just put a 98 explorer intake on this past week. i got the heads too but that will have to wait for a lil work to be done. you can use the tb from the explorer but its a 65mm and your stock egr is smaller, therefore will create a disturbance on the intake. if you wanted to use the tb from the explorer, it will have to be modified. its not hard. i just used my stock tb and egr block since they were the same size (until i go larger on both, i dont want a different size). the fuel injectors can be used. the fuel rail cannot. neither can the hard waterline. the 90deg elbow is cannot be used from the explorer. the lower intake will require a couple taps drilled. upper intake has a bunch of extra vacuum lines that dont get used.

if i was guessing its better than a factory mustang meter. i would hope so, but not sure. the intake, heads, tb, injectors, are so why wouldnt the mas air. but who knows. i guess like you said you hadnt looked at the both of them, just compare the sizes. i think they had 24lbers too didnt they. if so and you use them, youll have to use the mass air meter anyway or buy a new one. the factory mustang one wont be usable anymore. your mass air meter and injectors need to be matched.

the injectors i had were 19's, although it was from a mercury mountaineer (sorry) thought they were the same. if they are orange then they are 19's. and i used those. they looked a lil better then the stock mustang. the stock had a single pin sticking out vs. the mountaineer/explorer that has 4 smaller pin holes where the fuel comes out. figured the 4 pin holes to be better for flow than the single pin that sticks out. imo
