i just installed a vortech s-trim on my 89gt..base timings set at 10degrees ( with spout out). the car idles awsome, but when i drive it it hesitates..it feels like somethings holding it back. also heard some popping. when i degreed the cam i used a pushrod checker and found i needed rods that were a touch longer then stock. put them in and the sweep of the rocker arm was right in the middle. anyone have any suggestions?? also noticed the boost gauge never shows it in boost, when i drive it will drop to like 0 but never hit the 10-12 psi i have the car set-up for.

A leak maybe? A vacuum leak when cruising and when you lay into it all your boost is leaking out.

It sounds like you do have a vacuum leak somewhere throughout your lines. Make sure you hooked up everything properly. Also, retighten any of the SC hoses. They should be super tight. Also, what plugs are you running and what is your gap. If you have iron heads, a plug one heat range colder(autolite 3924, NKG TR55, etc) gapped to .028-.032will work well. Aluminum heads, two heat range colders will work well( Autolite 3923; same gap)

I have edelbrocks. I run 3924's gapped at .034. The car would runs better with the 3924's then the 3923's
