IDK where the hell you got 2-3" from.. the SN95 trans is 11/16" longer!

Yes, by 11/16", if you did not shorten it, you could cause binding in the U-joints and possibly crack the tailshaft housing if you hit a big enough bump to compress the rear suspension to the bump stop
