331 vs. 347

Default 331 vs. 347

i am planning to rebuild my motor but dont know what to do i cant decide between a 331 stroker or 347 stroker

please use the search tool.... this one comes up COUNTLESS times. most everyone will say to go 347. now, i will too cause i've been made aware of what the pros are now. there are a few guys on here but i would say joel helped me understand the 347's i'll build one later down the road

What's it for? 347 is great for drag racing and street use. If it were for a blower car on the street, especially positive displacement then a 331 or even maybe staying 302 might help for controlling low rpm torque. It depends on what you want. N/A though I'd build a 347. Or get a 4.125 bore aftermarket block and build a 363.

Default What 331?

Here comes the math...Number of cylinders x .07854 x Bore x Bore x Stroke = CID Comes out to 331.6456 over half so is 332! My machinist did this to me when I told him wanted to build 331. Guess 331 sounds better, go bigger go 332. Checked it out and the math is correct numbers do not lie.

347 for more cubes, the only reason to constrain yourself to less cid is class racing, for the hobbiest, go for larger
