Default 7.5 to 8.8

I got a 93 lx has the 7.5 4 lug rear. i found a 8.8 in a 80's modle farimont will it fit with out changing to much?

I have never seen a 8.8 in a Fairmont from the factory guess someone could have put it in or I just never seen one. the set up should be the same but you might want to measure the width

Have you ever heard of takin 2 driver side axels from a ranger to convert to 5 lug?

yup... the 83-95 A-R-B swap is very common

ok the guy at the local junkyard is trying to sell me a complet rear end out of a 80's modle fairmont for $200 if i knew for sure that it would fit i would chang everything they say its a 8.8 but i havent seen it yet so idk

never knew a fairmont to come with an 8.8 unless someone put it in there, safe bet is to pass on it, most likely he is wrong on what it is, without seeing a pic of it, it's hard to say what is in there
