Default Skid plate for underbody? 88 gt w/possible custom exhaust

OK well I my dad bought the mustang for me for $1,600 and he thinks the first owner put some sort of custom exhaust/headers, etc on the car due to the look of the parts on under the car...they stick out about an inch or two past the frame or body kit of the car...(if you lowered the car it would crush the exhaust)

I would like to eventually get airbags and be able to lower the car to the ground, but I won't be able to with the current exhaust setup.

What should the stock v8, 1988 5.0 gt setup look like? Does it protrude past the frame/body kit?

What have other people done? What are my options? Suggestions/opinions? Please give me feedback!

The cat converters hang lower than the subframe in the front. This is factory.

Some exhaust setups do hang a little lower than the rest of the body. Kinda depends on how you bolt it up and the brand.

eh, i use to have a mexistang. chameleon painted stang, pinstripes up the wazoo of purple, blue, pink with goldleaf. and "wildstang" pinstriped on the back trunklid in 60's bold writing and porno red interior....yea it was a lovely car. i should have airbagged it and offset the 100 sproke 14" gold rims, that would have really set the car off.

instead i paintd the car blue and changed the interior to black...what was i thinking!?!?
