Unfortunately, $2000 will only get you your 347 shortblock built. You won't have anything left for heads, cam, springs, rockers........ You may want to rethink your build. You could always bore it .030 (and go 306), install new hyper flat tops, GT40 heads and a nice cam, and you will have a strong runner just a little over your budget. A 347 decked out with a custom cam, good heads, springs, roller rockers, intake, carb and many more little things, will run you at least $4000, probably much more.
yeah true but i just want suggestions so thanks fro everyone that has help me thanks and yeah might just do a 306 instead becasue i can get gt40 heads from a friend for relly chep and i will just go and get them clean up port and polish the. what do guys think in a 1/4 mile i would run with you know a good cam and gt40 heads and block being fresh with new pistions and what type of pistions should i use for the 306 you think?

I would try to stay with forged pistons (they cost more), just in case you want to spray it down the road. If you never intend to spray, you could get by with a set of hypereutectic pistons (you can spray a small amount with them). As for the cam, well you'll find many opinions on that. Personally, a custom cam is your best option, but also cost more. There's lots of guy's out there running 306s with GT40 heads and Ford Racing cams, that perform very well. Personally, if you can't swing $350 for a custom cam, I would go with a Comp cam. Before I went with a custom cam, I called the Comp Cams Tech line, and they recommended this cam for my 306 http://store.summitracing.com/partde...8&autoview=sku, but even that cam runs $270. If you cant swing that, maybe the TFS1, but I would definately look for a dual pattern cam. You will also need the matching springs for whatever cam you choose. 1/4 mile times can't be predicted, but there are plenty of GT40 headed stangs deep in the 12s with the right matching parts. If you don't do anything to the suspension, at least install subframe connectors.

no one can predict the 1/4 mile times, it'll all depend on how well you set the h/c/i up and your ability to match all componets and have the proper supporting mods, cam choice will be key, a custom one IMO would be best so that valve events can be taylored to that of the heads and intake you'll be using.
nvm the 1/4 i already know that i just wanted tto know if anyone had known with thoughs types of mods dont to it. and i know with just a 302 with headers and kn fliter i did a 16 flat at the track so i can predict that i can maybe do a 14 or better maybe estiment.................
