Default ignition lock

the other day i took my key out and the black thing that goes around the ignition lock broke off. i dont know how to describe it. but i was wondering if it is a pain in the *** to change the ignition lock? thanks guys

does the lock cylinder still turn / able to start the car??

yea it does but i need to use a wrench to turn the key all the way. so today i bent the f**kin key, so im thinking i should replace it hah

I'm thinkin' while it still is able to rotate you'd better stop and install a new lock cylinder cause once you fubar it up the rest of the way, you'll be drillin' and grinding tat one out, as of now you can use the release pin to remove cylinder as long as it still rotates

yea i wasnt planning on driving it till i got it fixed. so its thats simple? just a release pin?

sometimes you have to remove the steering wheel, then shrouding around the column and with the key in the ignition there often is a pin you depress while rotating cylinder to service position and then pull out on it, not hard as long as cylinder can still be rotated
