Default 5 point harness.

Hi i just have a couple of questions regaurding 5 point harness install. First off can i have my d/s lap belt mounting point be my roll bar? Basically drill a hole in the tube and weld a nut in its place?

Second for the submarine belt is there a reinforcing plate needed if so how big? any help would be appreciated. Or if anyone has any ideas. Using the stock holes for the seat belts is no longer able to be done, my roll bar is in the way at the sill plate.

You really should not drill a hole for a mounting point. Can you do a wrap around mount, otherwise welding a tab is a better way to go. A plate should be used for the sub belt or a very large washer, I could not find anything in the NHRA rule book about the sub belt.

Default belt mounting

The shoulder belts should be either a rap around the bar type or tab mount, if you use the rap around type you must mount belt locater tabs, the floor mounts have to be mounted to the floor not the cage, either large plates 3" in diameter or 3" washers on both sides, the sub has to be to the floor in a location that is behind where your *** will be seated. Draw a line from your spine and mount the sub just behind that point. If you want good information about belt mounting go to the SCCA "rules" web site.

i tried finding the website with the information with no luck, so i'll ask here for again for more clarity.
Belt locators being a welded tab just keeping the belt from sliding? Now for the lap belt i can't wrap it around the rollcage bar? If not am i able to weld another tab onto the bar?

I can't see how i'd mount it to the floor as there is no room with the rollbar in the way.

Thx for the info for the sub belt i'll do that.

hi guys k sry for all the dumb questions but i'd rather ask them screw up. I found a how to on the internet from ford motorsports magazine.
I'm going to do what they all did except when it came to mounting the lap belt by the door where they used the original mounting point for the old seat belt.

I can no longer do that roll bar in way, can i just move a couple of inches in and mounting it to the floor? Is that a good idea? Anyone got pics of there set up? any thoughts welcome.

Default belts

You can mount to the floor, the right side belt mount you can use the stock mounting point and the left side belt use washers 3'' or larger, 3/4" grade 8 bolt and nut or a 10.5m bolt and nut. The roll bar if using a rap around method you must use a small U to keep the belt in place from sliding side to side. I will try to post my cars belt rap and mount for you. I am a head tech for the PCA in the RTR region. I see lots of really bad belt mounts and won't pass a car if they are mounted incorrectly.

Here is the best right up ever found on mounting belts. Use this and you will never have a problem.

Here is a mounting plate if you so choose.
