Question Cam Install??

Hey hows it going guys. I have a 1992 5.0 lx and I'm wanting to do a bigger cam in the car... what does it involve to put a bigger cam in "E-cam"... what has to be removed... i currently have the timing plate removed because im doing a timing chain so i figured i would do the cam while im there.... can someone tell me the process of installing it... do you have to take the manifold off? heads off? etc... any help would be gladly appreciated... also what would i need other than the cam for install?? thanks

Remove upper/lower intake, remove push rods lifter retainer/dogbones and lifters, remove cam plate and slide the cam out. I think most people would say do a head, cam, intake upgrade all at the same time. Just a cam upgrade with stock heads and intake isn't worth it, but it's your car.

most people find that they LOSE power doing a cam swap on an otherwise stock motor

yeah, installing a "bigger" cam to obtain a lopy idle will probably lose you power unless you upgrade heads and intake to let the engine breath with the cam

So I bought an AOD '89 LX that has an E303 cam, Trick Flow manifold, larger shorty headers and full exhaust, larger throttle body and larger MAF. As far as I know the heads are stock. What decent heads would be recommended to really open this combination up?

If you are asking these questions you need to get you a good manual on the subject and study it or make friends with a car guy. Way to easy to screw up
