Mjr, does AFR make an emish legal 185?
yes at least they did back when I bought a set. when I lived in an emissions state I was paranoid and bought a set for fear of possible emissions, I believe they were 1422 part number at the time??

looks like AFR does make an emission legal 185 head. Now i need to decide between 165's and 185's, which one would be best for my mods. Why is it that they are almost the same price and one has more power. Someone mentioned i should get a custom cam. What are some places that do custom cams.

If you go with 185's you have to notch out the pistons for valve clearance. And if I go with 165cc they will fit fine clearance wise.

for a custom cam...

what is the cost to notch pistion and how much more do the 185's flow over the 165's. If theres a HUGE difference i would go w/ 185's then.

87foxgt, thanks for all the info and custom cam links.

I don't think the difference between the 185s and 165s is HUGE, but it is there. exhaust flow is identical.
