thinking of supercharging

so i am thinking of supercharging my car. i know it is a project that is for those who are mechanically strong, so i got a buddy who is extremely good with cars and works in a garage to help me with it, but i was wondering if there were any certain modifications i would have to make before buying the supercharger, installing it, and if their were any kits that came with all the necessities to make it work correctly with my engine, including gaskets and hoses etc.....any information would be greatly appreciated

depends on what level of boost you wanna run?? with upper levels of boost , fuel system mods start to become a necessity.

if i ran like 8 psi...what should i modify to accompany that

With lower boost like that I don't think you would need to do much.

Anyone know how much a 5.0 makes on about 8psi? I was thinking about s/c'ing mine next winter...

normally the stock kits run 5-6 psi on the stock fuel system, 8 would be pushing the stock inj duty cycle to the max

Even with 6 lbs I'm running some high-performance FRPP 36 lb injectors (picked them up new for 100 bucks, can't beat it!), recal'd 75mm Pro-M bullet MAF with the supercharger and conical filter calibration, an FMU, timing at 8 degrees, Walbro 255lph. Just to be on the safe side. If you've got money to blow after the supercharger get it professionally dyno tuned. If not, just play it safe on the timing, boost and fuel. You'll for SURE feel a difference with 6psi. It's amazing when you feel the motor starting to build boost the tone of the exhaust changes and how it starts pulling you into your seat is a great feeling.

About how much would it make on 6 psi? is 350 a realistic goal?

IMO not without at least better than stock heads (and springs) and intake.

vortech sells a s trim kit that runs 8 to 10 pounds of boost

Anyone in here run the 302 or BOSS 302 with more boost... Say in the 15 - 20psi range?

I'm buying a new BOSS 302, and want to boost the hell out of it... But hadn't made up my mind about a s/c or a t/c... I know I'm gonna have to replace the headers, pistons, cam, put in a cooling system and and better fuel system, and much better intake... but any reccomendations, or usefull info as far as pros and cons for s/c over t/c?
