Default Fuel gauge sending unit

Ok. I tried using the 2 resistors that = 85ohms to see if I was having a sending unit problem or a gauge problem. I got no movement in my gauge. But there is a funny thing happening now, when i jump into my car i notice the gas gauge reading 2 marks b4 empty. but when i start it it reads empty??
Any suggestions on what it could be? Wiring? Anti-slosh chip? I ordered a new sending unit and o ring/ lock ring just in case anyways, so is there something else i can look for or test wile i am in there? Thanks for any help given.

could be a bad guage, i have the same problem and thought it was the sending unit and took it in and they said the sending unit was fine and that its probably a bad guage...ive had mine as a daily driver for 2 years and havent bothered replacing it yet tho lol
