Cylinder head bolt question

Cylinder head bolt question
I had broke cylinder head bolt that we couldnt get out, so we just drill and taped it to a 1/2 inch bolt. The heads have 1/2 inch bolts anyway. Do I torque this one bolt the same as the others or do I torque it to a little higher to the 1/2 inch torque rating.

Well this is a tough question. In retrospect you should not have tapped it out to 1/2", once it broke, machine shop was the only answer. With that said, I would think you should just torque it the same as the others. Best of luck.

I have heard of people drilling all of the shorter bolts out to 1/2 inch, I read it helped with nitrous motors to keep head gaskets from blowing. They just said torque them to 1/2 inch bolt specs which are 120 or so. Im not sure. Ive never heard of someone just drilling one of the bolts out. Which is the reason for the question. If i torqued that one bolt more, more pressure be applied right there. So im thinking just torque it the same.
