If you want to put the power to the ground the C4 is your best bet. The only advantage a AOD has is the overdrive gear. It's a power robbing tranny thats as heavy as a C6 but if you plan on putting some road miles on it the overdrive comes in handy. If it's just an around town street brawler the AOD is a waste.

You can get a highly modified C4 with a custom converter, for 1/2 the cost of a decent AOD without a converter. If it's not a daily driver and you don't get on the freeway much, a C4 is a better option. They are cheaper, stronger, and there's more options available (valve body, torque converter......). That being said, I'm in the process of rebuilding a performance AOD at home, for my 89 hatch. It's my 1st attempt at rebuilding an auto tranny (not the easiest tranny for a 1st timer to rebuild), but I'm giving it a shot.

Alright, thanks guys... I guess the choice is somewhat up to me, but I seem to lean toward the C4, and I found one in town for $50, so, I'm leaning a little farther...
