With only 1500 to spend you won't be able to do it. Ok N2O will get you there, but you've got other issues.
You're going to have to rebuild the motor, correct? That's ~$500 for a rebuild kit (forged pistons), plus you're going to have to get block machined, balance, and assembly if you don't do it yourself, plus headwork if needed, etc.
So rebuild (with a compression bump to ~10:1), throw a new cam in, take a grinder to your heads, add some roller rockers, and you're out of money.
$1500 seems really tight for a performance rebuild.

Yeah the trick is being able to do the machine work yourself. Unfortunately most people lack the resources or experience to do this, so you have to dump more money into it. Honestly, if I were you, I would do what I could with the money you have, and if it's not enough, just wait 'til you have enough, because you will be a lot happier having waited and getting the results you really want.

Closermost likely to double what you have if you really want to make it nice N/A. You can do a lot of engine stuff with 1500, but you may run out, and that leaves you with 3/4 complete, and no other bolt ons. Right now, if I were you, I'd save up just a little bit longer (I know it sucks), and then get the engine totally done (1500), and then start on the aftermarket stuff. If you have forged pistons and everything, you could hook up a blower no problem, or nitrous, but make sure you open up the engine first (i.e. larger mass air, large throttle body, injectors, ignition, full exhaust, etc.).

Another point, instead of building up your 302, which indeed is an amazing engine, you could go on Ebay and find a nice 351W for 2500 or less. It would take a little more money in the long run, but if you're looking to go all out, that would be sweet.

Good luck in whatever you do, let me know what you think.
