Default driveshaft problems- leaking tranny fluid

I recently replaced my trans and I noticed that the driveshaft yoke-yolk?? is warn. do I need a completely new driveshaft or can I take the yoke off another trans. its just a u joint right???

Yes you can replace just the yolk.
If the trans was used you might also want to check/replace the tailshaft seal and bushing.

I'm guessing the seal on the tailshaft is where the fluid is leaking. When you get another one to replaces make sure you put some transmission fluid on it & on the yolk before putting one inside the other. If the two parts were dry it would ruin it very quickly.

try a seal first there like 5 bucks also look for a groove or nicks in the shaft if either I new one or have that one turned down and get a seal to match

yeah, I already knew about the seal, i have replaced 3 of them! there are grooves on the yolk and it is uneven- which it should be even. it is a new tranny( well rebuilt- but as good as new). how do i get a new yolk on?
