gas gauge problem

Default gas gauge problem

so my gas gauge is reading full and after driving for three days and seeing it not move i decided to put gas to be safe...it took almost a whole damn tank...i dont really feel like playing the guessing game every day so where should i start trying to find the problem?

i have the same problem.. i havnt got around to checking it but start with checking the sending unit located at the tank.

its the sending unit.mine read full all the time,then i put in a new sending unit and its fine now.

did your gauge ever drop tho? Mine reads Full untill im almost empty then it drops right down to like 1/4 tank and falls from there

i had the same prob. its the sending unit. i asked a guy at a shop and he said the same thing.

Mine does the same thing. I replaced the sending unit with a new OEM one and I put in a used guage that I know worked and it still doesn't work right. Also my low gas light will come on even with a full tank.

looks like it's the sending unit, so just slap that part, if it's not that slap another then another until the prob is solved.... and if that still doesn't fix it THEN PM me and I can tell you how to troubleshoot the prob

to clear it up is the sending unit on the pump in the tank. if so did you replace the whole pump. also my light does that. whats weird about the light is that when it comes on all i have to do is flip on the parking lights and off again and it goes away. could be a short. but that guy at the shop said it was the sending unit.

on efi cars the sending unit is at the center of the gas tank and seperate from the fuel pump/carrier assembly^^^^^^^^^^^^
