581 FWHP N/A is not an easy task (1.67 HP/CID), it's very strange that the moment specific proof to back-up those claims was asked for, it was never shared.... and nothing but excuses were provided = https://mustangforums.com/forum/5-0l...mustang-4.html. Do I know what it takes to make that power?..... yep..... have I done it?.... not yet however, a 581 FWHP engine in a 2,700# frame, better make some 9.8's in the 1320' repetitively.... with time slips to share of course.
I really am sorry more information on that ported Vic Jr.'s heads, Crane custom cam, ported Vic. Jr. intake cannot be dissected.... specially when it has taken renowned engine builders more effort and "build tricks" to obtain those type of results with a 347.

Q here..... you want a combo configuration with an F-303 + performer intake + unknown TB + unknown injectors + unknown EEC setup + unknown exhaust setup + unknown drive train setup + expect suggested cylinder heads.... capable of making low 11's high 10's?.... just asking BTW.

If you go with an aftermarket block you might as well go .125 overbore and build a 363. Light internals, custom hyd roller cam with a shift point in the mid-upper 6k range, and at LEAST TFS FAC heads, or better yet some TEA ported TFS or Vic Jr heads. Should put it into the 500hp range with the correct supporting mods, but it won't be a cheap engine to build. Plus you're going to HAVE to have a transmission and suspension that can handle an engine like that, as well as chassis reinforcement.
There's a lot more than just building the engine, and it takes a lot to get a n/a SBF under 400" to run into the 10's, at least in a pump gas, street friendly package. The point that Joel is getting at, is that you may not have actually thought through what it is you really want and what it will cost. If you just build some basic 347 with mediocre parts, you're going to fall far, FAR short of your goal.

and to the op, you have a decent start to the supporting mods of a 350-400hp car, but ditch the intake, ditch the cam and regroup, look at primetime, his 347 is gorgeous, but that intake, efi, and tb retail for well over a thousand dollars alone. What kind of pistons are you running?

I was just quoting his sig.
