Unhappy Anyone ever have PTV issues with Comp XE270?

Well I do!

I'm getting ready to put my motor back in my car and I went out today to adjust the rocker arms, they're pedestal mount so I used Joel's writeup on sbftech and followed it to the t. Well every single one of my exhaust valves hit their respective pistons, I pulled the heads and can see the marks they made. Combo is 306 with speed pro flat tops (4 valve reliefs) GT40P's with upgraded springs, locks and retainers and the aforementioned XE270HR.

Am I going to have to cut wider reliefs into the pistons or is their another solution? Also if I do have to notch them, is their any way other than an isky notcher? I noticed they're kinda pricey.

Guess I'll notch them, I really don't wanna spring for another cam.

How was the cam installed, straight up or degree'd per the cam specs?. It can make a big difference in PTV clearance.

just buy the notch gizmo and start going to town on them, just make sure each notch is the same size all across the board

I want them the same size because if they are different sizes, it could throw off the weight balance, correct?

Weight balance as well as compression.

Oh right, good call on the compression.

This really puts a kink in my plans to put the motor in, but better to find out now and fix the problem than to try to start it and bend all 8 ex. valves!
