backfire though the carb
 

ok so i got the timming set a 10 degrees and the car runs great sitin there but when u put the pedal to the fool. she will. backfire though the front two barrels of the carb but if u easy onto the gas pedal she wont backfire

the exhaust also smells like gas bad like it will clear u out out of the garage in a couple of minutes

Sounds like more than one problem. The carb backfire is probably too lean of a pump shot, and if it smells like gas at idle then the idle is too rich.

i fixed it my dumb ass didnt know u had to remove thevuc line from the dissy before u set the timing it was almost 20 degrees retarded she still falls on her face a little at wot

What is the fuel pressure at WOT? What carb are you using? What did you set the timing at?

holley 650 dp 10 degrees

it falls on its face because its way too big of a carb you should be using a 600cfm. its too much fuel and the car is choking itself out in the top end.

is there something i can do besides buy a new carb
