Default Belt??

I have a '94 GT and I just instaleld a new engine. When i installed the engine i deleted the smog pump and the ac compressor. A member here on the forum told me to use belt: 805K6 but twhen i install it it rubs between the idler pully and the water pump pully and i dont want to drive it like that.

Is there a way i can re-route the belt with a different size belt so im not chewing belts up?

Thank you for your help,

Rob

use a string or something similar and route it in the same way you do the belt and pull it tight. Then just go to the auto parts store and pick out one close to the length of the string.

I got a shorter belt but the only way to route it is between the water pump pully and the idler pulley and there is barley enough room for them both and the slightly rub. I dont wanto chew up belts so i figured it would be a good time to take care of it.

Can I get a smaller idler pully and a smaller belt or can i delete the idler pully all together?

Shouldn't a shorter belt put enough strain on the idler to keep it off the water pump pulley?

That is weird that they rub. I had the ac and smog deleted on my 94 gt and just ran a shorter belt with no issues. What kind of water pump pulley is it? If it is a u/d pulley you could try switching back to a stock one.

^^ Yes it is an underdrive pully. Im going to have to find the stock one and see if there is a big enough gap to make it work.
