i just replaced my water pump and thermostat..hooked everything back up..reconnected my negative terminal on my battery..soon as i connect the cable to the terminal the car starts cranking by itself...no wires are touching or anything....i have no clue what caused this simply from replacing a water pump..any suggestions appreciated..

I rarely disconnect the battery to do a water pump but smack the selonoid a few times

check your solenoid to make sure none of the studs are touching the car and if it's not try tapping on it with the back of a screwdriver

i just did my water pump about 4 hours ago, it was my first 302/5.0 water pump and i didnt disconnect the battery, just winged it and i did a great job no leak anymore i feel more power really check your starter
