Default Clutch Adjustment/Slipping Clutch.

Could one have anything to do with the other?
I could not google my way into an answer so what I want to know is Will a clutch cable that needs to be adjusted EVER make it feel like a slipping clutch? I just put the motor and tranny in but i used a clutch from what was on the other motor and tranny seems recently rebuilt.

Why I think its slipping or should I say I know is in 2nd-5th If i hit the gas my engine speed goes up alot and car hesitates like a slug, but i just want to make sure before I change the clutch, and while I would like to do both at same time, I will probrably get aftermarket clutch cable and all.

Anyways thanks for reading.

there's a quadrant under the dash right above the gas pedal there's a half moon piece and a smaller plastic piece on the small piece you take one of you fingers and pull down on the back of it while at the same time pushing up on the half moon piece with your thumb and I that doesn't do it you may need to get a new cable

Your clutch is probably shot and slipping. You don't HAVE to get a new clutch cable unless yours is stretched/corroded. Nor do you need an adjustable cable. A firewall clutch adjuster just makes it easier to adjust. If your clutch was out of adjustment it would probably grind going in and out of gears.

I'm using a Max Motorsports aluminum quadrant and MM firewall adjuster with a new OEM cable. No problems, no complaints, love it.

Default HELP!

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the Mustang as I recently bought a '99 drop top with an '03 Cobra motor. It has the Max motordports adjuster, quadrant and OEM style cable. The clutch is slipping and the clutch pedal can be lifted up with about 1/2"of loose travel. I don't know how to adjusat the cable nor do I know if it has any adjustment left as much of the threaded section is in the engine compartment.
How does the adjustment work. It seems that the cable housing wants to turn with the knurled ring? Thanks.

Youd have better luck starting your own thread in the 4.6L forum.
