new tranney leaking?
hey guys, I just bought a reconditioned transmission and tried filling it with fluid before I put the tranney in. I realize this was a bad Idea now but with any angle it poured out like crazy. with the 3 clutch jobs I've done I've never had problems like this with the fluid straight poring out. Maybe because the seals had been broken in but should this be ok? I ended up not being able to get the trans in because I tried putting the bellhousing in before the transmission to try to avoid the bellhousing to block dowels but now I don't think thats possible.

what you do, is leave the fluid out then once its in, you remove the fil lhole on the side of the transmission and remove the lower shifter. then you pour fluid in the tranny untill it runs out of the fill hole on the side and your done easy as pie

easier said than done on mine.. this is on my 95 and it has the shorter input shaft and the bellhousing out of a fox. I had to have the tranney shop swap it to the shorter shaft because I I didn't bring the bellhousing. With the way it is, I cant remove the shifter with the tranney in place.
I didn't do this on purpose but thats what the previous owner did and if I didn't stay with the set up he had I would of had to drive another 7 hour round trip to get another bellhousing.

its too late now it already has the shorter input shaft in it and the place where I had it done is over 3 and a half hours away.
I'm just trying to find out if it should be leaking like it is. I'm guessing in the back it is because I don't have the driveshaft yoke in but I don't think it should leak as bad as it is from the front. I lifted the tranney from the back to put the tranney/midpipe mount assembly on and it started pouring out.
