How long will fuel pump last if I boost pressure?
I have till the weekend till my new fuel pump comes so Im wondering how long will my worn out fuel pump last if I clamp the return line so it boosts the pressure enough for the car to run right? Would the fuel pump last about a week under the added stress? If it would then thats perfect.hehe

First of all, I think all you have to do is disconnect the vacuum line to the regulator so that the fuel pressure will be maxed all the time. Clamping the return line wouldn't be a smart thing to do since the fuel pump operates at either 2 set rpms. One for slower speeds and one for higher engine rpm. The pump is running max all the time and returning unused fuel to the tank. You wouldn't be taxing the pump anymore than it is already but you would be forcing line pressures to unknown values by clamping the lines.

THe pump runs at the saem RPm all the time. A pump creates flow, not pressure. Pressure is created with the resistance to flow, hence the FPR. If you clamp the return line, you're going dead head the pump which is really stressful and can ruin the pump.
