Default Overheating

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cant get my car to stop overheating. I flushed the system. The fan works. I thought my problem is that I couldnt get all the air out of the system (and still might be? idk i've been trying to bleed out the system for a couple days now but it seems to be full). I replaced the thermostat last year (dont drive the car in the winter) I did a cooling system pressure test and it holds pressure. I cant figure this out. Please help.

Engine is a 302, with TFS H/C/I, but engine is in a Fiero. So the cooling system is really really long, which makes it difficult to bleed the system of air.

Itll overheat if I just let it idle too long. It'll overheat if I drive it.

In the front like on most vehicles. It just has pipes that run all the way to the back where the engine is.

that's what I thought, they can be a pain to bleed as the pipes are really long, but also that set up was designed for 4cyl cooling capacity, it may not be sufficient for a v-8 car even when fully bled, unless of course it has worked fine before

It worked fine before I did the heads/intake.. it was originally a 6 cyl also.

then you most likely still have air trapped, I've raised the front end on the cars a good bit before as such to create a high point in the system for air to work it's way out, make sure you have good heat which is often an indicator of a fully bled system

heater core is bypassed. I raised the rear of the car to get to the high point. no luck.

Are you positive that everything is flowing? Do the coolant pipes get hot both before and after the thermostat? If not - then the stat isn't opening. Just a thought - I've been trying to figure out a heating issue with my car too.

Does the coolant overflow when it over heats? That's usually a sign of air in the system.
