Default car dieing dont know why....

My car dies after about 15-20 mins of running... no matter if i am just idleing or if i am crusing i have no idea what the problem is.. and it usualy wont restart for about an hour or maybe longer and then again the same thing dies in a matter if mins... i was told it might be the ignition control module overheating... but i have since replaced it with the same result... please help.. this started happening shortly after cold air intake and headers were installed.. smog pump was also removed and an idler put in place... timing is at 13degrees and the cap and rotor are msd and also new as are the plugs and wires..

thank you for any help... i am stuck riding my bike to work every day

Could be the pick-up inside the dizzy itself. Mine had a similar problem.

I do belive i am getting spark at the coil.. i pulled the wire and turned the key and it sparked... but that may be a fluke because sometimes i can restart it for a min or so before it dies again... and i can hear the fuel pump running.. and the filter is new...(6 months or so) but i cant keep the car running long enough to check if i am getting fuel in the rail or not.. discount has a dizzy for like 90 bucks... is it worth trying??? i have a little money to spend on it... just not a ton.. so i dont want to just throw parts at it..

Default Better check for pickup

Read the section "TFI TESTERS" on page 3. In particular, the last two sentences.
"A better test..."

My new dizzy goes in tomorrow. Good luck.

Really sounds like your pick up down inside your distributer. See if you can find a buddy that will let you use his distributer to rule it out. The part is not expensive but the change out is a little bit of a pain. (you have to press off the distributer gear)
