electrical short in dash gauges??

electrical short in dash gauges??
well the other morning on my way to work my stock temp gauge said it was runnin like 230 degrees but i was almost there so just hurried. when i pulled in the parkin place and turned my lights off the temp gauge instantly fell to normal temperatures. so i looked at all the rest of the gauges when i turned my headlights on and off and they all rise like halfway except the gas gauge. anyone else experienced this? i dont know what to even look at to troubleshoot.
