I hear a sort of whining noise which seem to be coming from the front of the car but only between like 1200 and 2000 rpms and more pronounced on deceleration. Does anyone know what that could be or something I could check out?

yeah probably power steering.. does it make the noise when u turn the wheel aswell?

my PS pump is noisy it is a ford after all but this whining im hearing is going straight and turning doesn't matter its still the same.
