I really wish I knew enough about cars to understand the hilarity of the above comments but is there anything the rest of you can add to the thread that's on topic? Anywhere to look to help me diagnose the issues? Perhaps things to test and go over as I look for the short?

well quick somethin for ya to learn. cv shafts are typically for fwd(front wheel drive) and awd(all wheel drive) cars. our cars have solid rear axels and dont have have cv shafts. this is what cv shafts looks like. and just to edit my previous comment, i didnt consider the mustangs with IRS(independent rear suspension), because they would have them...no solid axels.

as for your charging issues. you may want to have your alt tested just to insure you charging system is fine. once you rule out the alt you can look into other possible issues. when your alt isnt charging properly it can do some funky things with your electrical systems.
