ratchet and Auto in a 94?
So I know the Aode C4 swap has been done many times and has been debated even more but I have a couple questions about the debate. I have been considering a street/strip set up that might see some autocross as well and the trans is going to have to be the centerpiece and capable of all of it. a full manual valve body would be good for drag and autocross but not neccesarily good for street. A full manual on a C4 wouldnt be too bad for street considering its just a 3 speed. an AODE is kind of a pig stock so is it possible to get a tune for it or what can you do to really spice it up and be bullitt proof?...
basically what im asking is which trans do you suggest and is it possible to be able to drive eather in auto or go into full valve body mode and what ratchet shifter would be needed?

i have an aod and im going to go with a c4...im streeet/strip and not into autocross. i have a B&M hammer shifter and i love it.
heres the shifter for aode http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-81001/
heres the c4 conversion you need http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-81020/
redneck performance makes a c4 that can withstand up to like 600hp and its @1300. thats what i am goin with

A full manual valve body isn't bad on the street. At least not in my opinion. I shift my c4 up and down almost every time its time to switch gears anyway. How much highway driving are you gonna be doing with the street part? Around town c4's are not bad but on the longer highway drives that higher rpm can be somewhat annoying. AOD's can be built just like any other transmission but the c4 is usually built cheaper. For the autocross part, depending on how big your track is, a c4 would be nice to keep in that 2nd gear that has a nice rpm range. I use it usually between 30 and 75mph with 2.73 rear gears. Its all in how you prefer to drive really.

Thanks for the love on the rust bucket lol. That car has the stock shifter in it with a stock c4 and a stock 7.5 rear. I don't plan on doing any mods to it anymore because I am putting my motor and stuff into my 93 body I bought right before I deployed. I plan on turning the 83 into either a full drag car sometime down the road. Its gonna be a garage queen so I can fix all the rust on it and start reinforcing the body.
