speed density cam

RE: speed density cam
Honestly there's not really any aftermarket grind cam that will work with a speed density car,but there is people that have runned cam in a sd car and they run OK.But then again other would'nt even run at all,so i would just do the mass air swap and then cam it.

yeah man you can't put a different cam in our cars because they are flat tops (only year they did that and it sucks) what you have to do is get the pistons notched for clearence or get new onesthe are already notched...if it were me though i just do a complete rebuild maybe go stroker with mass air conv. our engines suck because you can only do so much and then that is it...

RE: speed density cam
My 88 GT was speed density. I never put a cam in it, but with the things that were done to that car it never should have been able to run. The thing I had the most trouble with was it's idle, which I fixed with an idle adjusting plate ($39 from Mustang Unlimited). It fits between the IAC and the throttle body and allows you to fine tune your idle.
My car had... unequal shorty headers, off-road H-pipe, 2.5" Dynomax, 3.73 gears, 65 mm throttle body and EGR spacer, 1.7 roller rockers, and a Hartman box intake. Everything else was stock and it ran 13.2 @ 107mph on BFG radial T/As with a 2.0 60 ft. The car was a 5-speed so that did make fixing the idle a bit easier, an AOD might be harder to work with. Later I added a PMS and could never get it dialed in.
As far as cams go even if you convert to mass air, if your car is an AOD I wouldn't go beyond an E303 without getting a larger stall or idleing is going to become an issue.
