But theres still play to go after its in 3rd so I think the stops are already back if not to much. It shifts ok just the whine when in gear. And some funny noises.

just to make sure back the shift stops all the way off and drive it and make sure the boot seals are properly sealed to not allow noise in and retest and see if noise is still there

Ok ill try the stops again but do i have to pull the console out again? And what boot seals? all there is, is a lower boot with the plate then the washer thing that slips over the shifter to keep the lower boot up. Maybe thats whats making the rattling sound.
