Exactly. What you need to do is get some check springs installed on two valves, get an adjustable pushrod (any old one, I just used a stock one from a Dodge) that's near the length you need, mine were 8.230, if I remember correctly, so I grabbed a pushrod that was about 8" long adjusted all the way down. Install it with the cam on the base circle, then adjust the pushrod until the rocker is centered on the valve. Turn the engine over by hand, of course, and watch the rocker checking to make sure the rocker is as close to center on the valve as possible throughout its travel. Usually the rocker will ride to the front of the valve, as it's being compressed, then return the the center when at max lift. That's what you're after.
