can u turbo a 650 carb?
im planning to turbo my '85 5.0 and i was told i will need a blow through carb for the boost. is it possible to use the holly 650 already on my car without modifying it or will i need to modify or even buy a whole new carb?

I believe they have to be modified. There is a guy in Haleyville, Al that does the blow through carb set-ups. He also drives one himself. The name of the place is Lyle Wrecker service. He gets us pretty good deals on Summitt stuff and is fair with all his customers. He told a friend of mine that he would install and tune a single turbo set-up for 4500. I am not sure if that includes the carb or modifying yours though. You may want to check him out. If you are around Memphis, it shouldn't be no more than 2 hours away.

You need a blow through carb and a pump with higher pressure capability and a boost referenced pressure regulator.
If you don't have a blow through carb you'll get pressure leaks at the throttle shafts and the floats will implode.
