Default 5.0 to 5.8

im a 4.6 guy so i might look like a fool on a 5.0 forum but anyways my friend has a 90 gt he rebuilt a 5.0 n barley had it broke in and sprayed 100 shot n blew his new engine but now he wants to put in a 351 ....5.8 but he was wonderin if its even worth it to swap to a 351... he was also wondering if his 5.0 intake fits on a 351 and will his heads bolt onto a 351 block? whats all invovled in the swap? any help is appreciated... ty

Yes it is a worthwhile swap. There's lots of threads about this, check out the 351 forum. I have a 408 in my car, which is a 351 stroker.

To answer your questions:

5.0 lower intake will not fit due to the taller deck height of the engine, meaning the engine is also wider, but the upper will.

5.0 heads will bolt to a 351 block by drilling out the head bolt holes to 1/2" as the 351 uses 1/2" head bolts, 302 uses 7/16 if I'm not mistaken.

As far as what's involved depends on if it's fuel injected or carbed. Fuel injected you'll need to cut the cross-over hose and widen it on the fuel-rail, and you will run into hood clearance problems, balancer, flywheel/flexplate... it's a straight-forward swap, like I said, there's lots of info on this, just look in the 351 forum.
