fuel filter?

Default fuel filter?

When i turn my car on my fuel pump is very loud and im almost positive its stock, but my question is that when i step on the brake the sound of the fuel pump changes then when i let off the brake it goes back to being loud, my friend said its the the fuel filter just want some more opinions

Are you sure it's your fuel pump you are hearing? Sounds like your brake booster may be leaking. Stepping on the break will change the vacuum and cause what you are hearing. Are you having any trouble with your breaks?

the sound is located right where the fuel tank is so i dont think that it would be the brake boster but ill check thanks

Its probaly caused by a somewhat weak alternator,since when you step on the brake's your brake lights come on and is causeing a voltage drop through the cars whole electrical system,and a loud fuel pump is a sign of one going bad,but it could be tommrow or a year from now,its really hard to tell.

Stangpower was right.

Pressing the brake lights up the brake lights which are high amperage bulbs. This amperage which is going to the fuel pump has to be shared which drops the volts/amps if you don't have a high output alt. That is normal.

The whine you hear could be normal and have nothing to do with the pump going out. Not all pumps are alike and some whine a lot more than others...mine whines.

It could be on its final days but I wouldn't count on it.

Just going by experince on the pump going out,plus where i work i talk to ford tech's all the time and they say the samething so i don't know,since i had a 90 and the pump all of a sudden started to get somewhat loud and a month later it went out.
