fuel economy

ok so i know being a v8 and all mustangs arent exactly known for excellent gas mileage but i recently filled up my tank and reset my tripometer to figure out how many mpgs i was getting. i got up to just nearly 200 miles before my tank was pretty much empty so i divided 200/15 because i think the stock tank holds 15 gallons of gas (right?). the answer is 13.3 mpg which is pretty bad anything i can do to increase this? i tried driving better too, like downshifting instead of breaking etc.

you should use the amount you pump into the tank and divide by total trip miles = correct way, not by what tank may or may not hold:)

the best method is to

fill the tank
reset the odometer
drive
refill

now take the miles driven and divide by the gallons used to refill

My first tank from winter I got 14 but since then I have been getting roughly 17-18mpg. It is still stock but I do beat on it pretty good.

I beat mine damn hard and I still get at least 17mpg. Get a good intake, underdrives, and a free flowing exhaust.

i get around 20 21 in mine.and my car isnt even running right and only has one oxygen sensor.

i use to get 22mpg's on average.

to improve your gas milage, do a tune up, check for codes. and get an ignition box(multiple sparks below 3k rpms, more sparks=more complete burn=more power=less effort to get vehicle moving=better gas milage :D)

I got 12-16 with my carbed 306 that was backed by a c4 (auto 3 speed) with me beating on it the whole time.

I'm getting 23 on the highway with 4:10's and 27" rear tire, if i'm nice to it. 16-17 back and forth to work(around 10 miles each way)
