Smokey 5.0, help please
Hey there. I'm Eric and I've got a little problem with my '89 GT. I've got a 5.0 under the hood with a Holley Systemax II top end kit and for some reason its blowing a lot of blue smoke. It's a brand new kit (motor hasnt been tuned for the kit) but, when I whipe my finger on the inside of the tailpipes its caked with oil. I can see the header gaskets are trapping some oil so I know its something inside. I'm thinking maybe the oil rings are fried? Or could it be a cylinder head problem? I had my mechanic run a compression test and compression came up just fine. The car leaks no oil. I was thinking of rebuilding the motor with a rebuild kit from summit racing but begged the question, is the top end kit putting too much stress on the bottom end? I just want this problem taken care of because I cant stand to see my car being garaged haha. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm not the original owner of the car. The guy I got it from never tuned it because he was waiting on a bigger mass air sensor and it was on backorder for a while. So he never really got around to it but he told me all the work done to the motor was done by a near-by speed shop so I can't tell what kind of work they did. I do have the original parts and on the underside of the lower intake manifold it looks like theres been some charring. Looking like something was burning underneath it. But I can ask this guy how it was before he put the topend on.
