Default Mass Air Conversion?

O.K so I obviously have a 1987 mustang and was wondering on the conversion to mass air preceding any intake Mods so anyone that can tell me what to buy and where i need to buy it woould be very appreciated. If you know of somewhere where its cheaper than another that would be helpful..

summit has a whole kit for like 500 or 600 dollars. you could piece it together yourself for about 300 though.

find a EECIV A9L or A9P
get youreself a nice MAF
get yourself the MAF plug/sensor
and about 20ft of red wire, black wire, and two other colors. get them in 14guage wire
get yourself 5 ECU pins

and then wire it up yourself. i did mine in about 1 hour and that is soldering all the connections, relocating pins, and taping into the cruise/fuel pump relay also

yeah its cheaper to just buy all the part individually and get better performance parts when your doing it and they sell a conversion harness that has instruction of excatlly what to do

the little harness they sell only goes to the ecu. you still ahve to hook up the cruise control and the fuel pump relay wires

you dont have to convert at all for an intake. if you change the cam you will definately have to, but if you have an adj. fuel pressure regulator, you can change pretty much anything else. not saying converting is bad, b/c im in the middle of doing it myself and my car is pretty much stock, i just like the ease of tune.

Well my mechanic buddy told me that I couldn't do any other Mods till I changed Over to Mass air. So I guess I have to start locating all these parts or drop six hundred bucks.

youre mechanic is an idiot and make sure i told him that. it clearly shows he doesnt know all that much about a SD car. you can mod one with alot of mods but its when you go to get it tuned. i swapped over just easier then dealing with the hassle but you can get a SD with mods to run very well. its all in the tune work. and alot of high end stangs run a SD setup. so tell youre mechanic to shove it.

but i wouldnt pay 600 dollars for the kit when its only like 1 hour worth of work and only a few bucks in parts
