Default Idle problem. Just a question.

Hi guys i've been trying to chase down my idle problem, car wants to idle at 1200. Well i tried resetting base idle but can't even with throttle stop screw all the way out still idles at 1200, except when cold then it'll start up and idle at 800 then after 10 mins will stay at 1200.

so i did some reading and looked on mitchelle on demand, they say check for vacuum leaks, i sprayed everywhere down with ether no change in idle, measure voltaged while unit was running from the iac, had voltages from 1.7 volts to 5 volts while changing idle, measured the resistance of the iac and got 10.4 ohms. Accordin to mitchelle all is well.

Then it said ignition timing, now call me stupid i was just curious to how this would affect idle? I'm going to check it soon just getting a timing light.
Is it say too much advance gives u higher idle?
Any hlp would be appreciated thx. Sry cars a 1990 5 liter stock but with everything removed that i could lol .

Also note checked tps and within the specified range.

too far of an advance would cause a high idle in a carb'd car, yes, but our cars have computers that are supposed to compensate for it. have you visually checked that the plate inside the TB is closing all the way?

Too far advanced timing = detonation. Too far retarded = no combustion. Has your motor ever been pulled out or has the cam been changed?
