Default How hot should she be running?

This weekend I drove up about 50 miles to get some more goodies and it was like 97 degrees and my car was running about 210 pretty consistently once I got up to 65 and past the stop lights. She wasn't running bad at all but I figured the 195 t-stat was coming out when I got home. I ggot home and drained the water out(very little antifreeze was in it)but I haven't had this car a month yet. Anyways I put a 160 t-stat in but even driving to work the temp was reading around 190. I am running stock fan currently with a plan to put electric on it once I get paid. the fan clutch seems to spin freely and it slowed down when I chopped my hand in it last night too.I want to replace the radiator anyways too,but do I have something else going on too? There isn't any white smoke and she ain't boiling over. I dont want to put all new stuff in it just have to rip it out.Any suggestions?

Why are you worried? First of all changing the thermostat won't change a single thing. If you have a 195 then it's fully open at 195, so if you run at 210 the stat is at max flow already. You put a 160 in it then it opens at 160 fully, but still heats up and runs at 210. That said, 210 is fine. You don't need to start getting concerned until you get over 230 really. I run a 195 in mine and in the summer around here it typically runs at around 210ish. I have my fan set so that it doesn't even come on until around 215 anyway.

I run at 200 with romping my car in the AZ heat. But that's with a 160. I'd go with 180 if anything. 160 is too low for an efi engine.

Each pound of pressure lets the engine increase three degrees of temperature. 16lb cap will let coolant go to 260 degrees before boiling.

Coolant boiling isn't the problem, if the heads get too hot you can detonate, warp heads(not that common though) or blow head gaskets.
