help no start 87 5.0
i tried searching with no luck
i was about half way to on the mile drive to the track when my car started leaning out in rpms past 5k so i figured i must have my fuel press reg to low so i kept going and then it starts cutting out at 4k then down to 3 and so on till it will barely idle the idle sounds like its out of time but it isn't my dist tight no way it moved i looked for ovb things melted wires loose conections and so on. car won't even start now. i believe its a fuel problem the fuel pressure primes to normal 38+/-lbs and then sharply drops off, i ran a koeo test and came up with a 95-Fuel Pump Circuit Open-PCM To Motor Ground what exactly does this mean. also a week earlier i lost power to my eec i couldn't find the problem so i ran a new fused wire to the eec. any ideas? thanks

I posted something similar about a year ago. Rather than being my long winded self let me say this. Check your coil and coil lead to the dizzy. My car cranked and cranked and cranked but you could hear there was just no way it would come to life. I could hear the fuel pump prime upon startup and after lots of cranking could even smell raw fuel inside the car. Sometimes it would start and run and what I figured was running well. I'd park and go for a bite and an hour later it wouldn't light up. The coil stem was the problem, the lead didn't grip on properly and was always loose. The fact that the problem was intermittent was what kept me guessing. New wires that grip like a hand in a velvet glove rectified the problem and released what feels like an additional 25hp. Check to make sure you're getting full conductivity at the coil. Good luck...
PS-why are you using a 255lph fuel pump on a stock motor?
