Overpriced 91 GT?
OK so as i pass my neighbors house today i notice a Nice red completely stock clean looking 91 GT sitting out front with for sale written on the windsheild. So i decide to go up to the door and ask about it and turns out its all original and all stock which is very hard to find on a fox mustang anymore.
so its a 91 GT with the original 5.0 and very clean looking with just over 100,000 mi. on it with all new tires and brakes all around.
Then the price, The guy says he wants 8 grand for it
IS it just me or is that way to much.
I checked the book value and its only around 3,000
I really like that seems like too much and i don't quite have that much money
So you guys are the experts so i figured i'd ask what yall think on his price

yeah i didn't know for sure.
thats why i asked here
the car however did have to have the front bumper repainted. guy said cuz of fading.
It also had a few minor nicks and stuff on the front of the hood and the mustang letttering down on the skirts looked kinda bad up close but other than that it was pretty nice.
I was just thrown off because of how old it is and the mileage, but i don't claim to be any expert on car pricing.
If i was i would have sold my junky cougar by now

I picked up mine for 3300 with 108000 miles and completely stock. Paint is faded but nothing some buffing won't fix. Had a continuous electrical drain so the guy had put a new alternator and a couple of new batteries in it.........turned out to be the hood light!! LOL! then again I might have paid less cause it's an LX notch.

Mine has the basic mods you see in my sig + the original Motorcraft parts they replaced. The way I see it, it doesn't have anything done to it that Ford shouldn't have done from the factory in the first place. I suppose I couldn't do much about the widened rear rims but I could buy a new set if I ever sold and that was an issue. Nice clean foxes seem to be getting their respect lately when it comes to pricing so if that car is clean and straight 8k isn't out of line from what I've seen and I browse several sites daily. A car is worth what a buyer will pay and I wouldn't take a dime less than 10k for mine. You can get a Paxton-charged '89 notch in very good shape here with 133,000kms for $9500 right now. 133k (kms) is relatively low but really, who wants a 5.0 with a charger that's been dryfvcked to hell and back by some 20yr old when they could buy a very close to perfect one that sees 12-1500kms a year by a guy in his 30's that enjoys it but doesn't abuse it? I have to say though, even compared to Canadian prices (and our dollar is currently almost at par) that mileage is too high for that money no matter how straight the rest of it is. Mine has 109,000kms and change or roughly the 67,000 miles as stated in my sig. Nice run of the mill 87-93 cars can be had for 5k if you're patient and persistent. Cheaper if you're a do-it-yourselfer...

Book value means nothing when it comes to these kinds of cars. It really depends on what part of the country you are on. Here in the rust belt (Chicago) a nice clean Fox is hard to find and you will pay more for one, in AZ they seem to easier to find. The average price I see around here for a clean to average 87-93 car is probably around $5000 or so. Notchs seem to be a bit higher value, probably due to how popular drag racing is around here.
