I am somewhat on the same page as you, except I am installing a 5.0 into my 65. It cranks and wont start, then now spark on coil. I also replaced the coil, tfi, coil and cap. Mine was a starter solenoid not grounded. Something easy and stupid. Don't know if you have yours grounded. Also what firing order are you using,(don't really think that matters for spark). You should be using 13726548 by the way passenger side is 1-4 and drivers side is 5-8 from front to back. Don't ask me how I know learned the hard way.

Well if you pull the #1 plug and put it in the wire lay it on the strut tower pull the fuel pump fuse and turn the key you will see immediately if your spark system is working properly. The other problem is checking fuel which it seems like you have. i had this problem with my old car and it ended up being a much larger problem. If you check the spark the way i mentioned you need to get a leak down and compression check done. if there is no compression being made you will get anything from a weak erradic idle all the way to where my car was it didnt start at all. so there are a few other possibilities

when i had this issue it was both coil and dist....in my case i whent to the junkyard and just got a coil and dist to be on the safe side. tried the coil first nothing, then swapped in the new junkyard dist and it worked so i check my old coil and it was bad also. never figured out what part was bad on the dist.
