weird fan problem
Hey everyone,
Recently i noticed that my fan was blowing with an abnormal intensity. I thought it might be the fan clutch or the fan itself [which had some mild cracks]. I switched these out, but i still hear the noise. It sounds like a jet at merely 3k rpm.
also just curious, but should the fan be pulling air in from outside the radiator or should it be blowing air out through it?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jason

should be pulling air in through it. It would be rather silly to create a fan system to blow out while the natural airflow of driving is causing air to come in.
and... did you replace the clutch with a new one?

with the car off take the fan and spin it by hand. if it spins freely with a little bit of drag its ok if it either doesnt spin or spins but its hard to push then the clutch is bad. best think you could do is dump the belt driven fan for a taraus fan out of any late 80's early 90's with a 3.8l engine

thanks for the responses.
- i have changed the fan cluth [it does work properly]
- i have changed the entire fan unit
i still notice the fan being really loud [moreso than normal]
it sounds like a jet at a mere 3k rpm [even when i just turn the car on from cold]
thanks
