if you get a chiltons manual it tells you exactly how to check the rocker arms. but i didnt have the measuring stuff so i shimmed the rocker arms until i could just barely turn the pushrods with my fingers.

Alright i just want to make sure because i dont want to bend a valve or anything and have to end up doing a whole head job. ohsoquick02 why did you go back and do them again? once i get each cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke i will be able to put the rocker arm on and tighten it down correct? if it knocks after this i have another problem

well after i did them. i spun the motor over a few times by hand then retorqued them to 20ftlbs. just for a safe reasurence. then once again i did it. so about 3 times total to make sure none had loosend up after rotating the motor.

you shouldnt bend a valve with stock cam and 1.7s

you guys dont have to get each cylinder on tdc. you can check all the valves at 3 crankshaft positions
