so ive got a 4 cyl right now, but i want to swap in a v8. i found a 1980 Thunderbird for $800 with a 302 and a C4 tranny in it. Would this be a good deal for 800 bucks? i could take the Tranny, the Motor, and the rearend out and use it, but input? anything i'd need to look out for? this car is in very nice condition and seems like an old lady has driven it all its life.
I would skip on that drivetrain. its going to be a flat tappet non HO motor, probably makes 140-150BHP, and the C4 door stop is exactly that... a door stop

i would just look for a wrecked 88-93 5.0 foxbody, you can find them pretty cheap, i payed 500 for a wrecked sn95 for my 89 coupe 4 cyl swap.
personally id look for a 87-92 lincoln mark 7 the mark 7 has 5 lug swap and rear disc the same 5.0ho(has a larger 100 amp alternator) probably can find one for about 400$ and they normally arent abused like a mustang
if you want to go efi youd want to get a mustang mass air computer(the lincoln uses speed density)
