Exclamation transmission problem????

Hey everyone, this is new for me so bare with me. I have a 5.0l mustang gt with the gt40 cobra package throughout the car, h-pipes, etc... the list goes on. This is what happened, yesterday I let her go and shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 4500rpm something let go. My hertz shifter feels soft but lots of grinding, clunking noise. I can still shift into 1st and reverse, but like I said, it's soft. The other thing is, when I shut the car off, then turn it on, with the pedal still down I hear nothing. As soon as I lift of the clutch pedal, even in neutral, all the grinding, clunking noise comes back. Took apart the clutch and all seems good, nothing out of the ordinary there. I'm assuming it's the tranny, but would like some ideas before I go ahead and find one. Needless to say, its a kick in the head....thanks ahead.....

Sounds to me like you busted the input shaft in the tranny, the noise is when you are releasing the clutch its spinning the input shaft which is broke and thats were all the grinding and clunking is coming from

well, I've happened to have an input shaft from a buddy so when we open her up will see what I get. Anything else you think I should be aware of, or to look at? I'm hoping that the teeth on 2nd and 3rd are good..... or else this is going to turn into a big project... thanks....

ok guys, here is the update. Took tranny out, between the 3 of us it only took 45min. Cracked her open and 3rd gear was totally shot. My bud had a spare t5 tranny with missing parts, just transferred my stuff into his, teeth on gears were way better too. Slapped her together last night and she runs good. Decided to put synthetic gear oil instead of tranny fluid, makes more sense to me as they are all gears.....

I have pics, so my question is how and where do I post them?????

thanks

two options.

make a photobucket.com account. upload them to there. then come back here and insert the image link into ["img"]image link here["/img"] brackets, without the quotes.

or

when you reply here, click the go advanced button. from there you can upload images straight to this server, under the Manage Attachments sub-section.
